Snatch Magazine

I had the honor of creating illustrations for a story written by Kim Kelly for Snatch Magazine. This magazine highlights the experience of being a fan of women's sports, with a focus on queerness and an emphasis on joy throughout every page.

Illustrated map with a winding road, showing stops labeled Kansas City, Seattle, and Los Angeles, with the text 'Here, There, Everywhere' and 'A Cross Country Quest to See Women's Sports in Action,' featuring a pink car and green pom-poms.

In the story, Kim embarks on a road trip to explore the landscape of women's sports across the US. I've selected special moments from the trip to highlight, such as the one below, the CPKC stadium with a soccer ball flying out of it (also known as a river ball).

An illustrated soccer stadium with a green field, seating areas, and a scoreboard. A soccer ball is in the upper left corner, and the field has players in black positions. The stadium has a roof structure and the letters 'CPKC' on a sign near the goal.
Two tickets for a basketball game between Seattle Storm and New York Liberty, with a trans rights message, surrounded by rainbow-colored dots.
Cartoon illustration of a handheld gaming device with a basketball game displayed. The game is called 'Triple Double' and shows pixelated stick figure players on the court, with a score of 88 to 77. Surrounding the device are stylized bottles, and there is a large speech bubble above reading 'TRIPLE DOUBLE' in bold letters.
Illustration of a soccer field decorated with pride flags, a Black Lives Matter sign, and a banner reading "Football ❤️ Soccer ❤️ Foot" at the bottom.

For the color palette, I chose lighter and more playful colors to match the story's vibe, which will help the illustrations stand out against the black text. For the flag colors, I aimed to use similar light shades while ensuring they match the original flag.
